Webb Brothers Rafting Has Half a Century on the Hiwassee

Webb Brothers General Store is a landmark in the community of Reliance. The store opened in 1936 and continues to provide gas and food as well as souvenirs. Rafting rentals started in 1969 – so 2019 marks the 50th year of riding the Hiwassee River.

Webb Brothers will set you and your family up in tubes, rafts and “duckies” (inflatable kayaks) for a self-guided five-mile trip down the Hiwassee River through Cherokee National Forest. You can even stay in the Webb Brothers historic guesthouse, called the Watchman’s House, or rent the Hiwassee Meeting Hall for events, celebrations and weddings.
