In 2018, Robin and Clete Underwood of Smith County decided to celebrate the holiday season by decorating a cross with Christmas lights at their home. Inspired by the sight, their neighbors followed in their footsteps. Soon, other communities joined in, and now there are more than 1,200 crosses lit with Christmas lights each year.

There’s no specific denomination attached to the trend – it’s just a universal symbol that unites people in the Christmas spirit. As the aCross Tennessee movement grows each year, it reaches far and wide, migrating to surrounding counties and beyond. These beautiful lit crosses are a wonderful reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.
