Time to lace up those running shoes. Stretching nearly a mile in length, the Big River Crossing trail in Memphis is not only the longest public pedestrian bridge across the Mississippi River, but also the country’s longest active rail/bicycle/pedestrian bridge.
Open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Big River Crossing invites users to be active while experiencing stunning views. The bridge opened in October 2016 and connects Main Streets in Memphis and West Memphis. Users can walk, jog or bike along the bridge, and it’s fully illuminated before sunrise and after sunset, with special LED lighting shows on Fridays at 8 p.m.
