The Nashville Rose Society will hold its Annual Rose Show on Sep. 26 and 27, 2020, at Belmont University in Nashville.

This year, the Nashville Rose Society will be hosting the Tenarky District Rose Show and Convention on the same weekend. The Tenarky District is an area within the American Rose Society and includes local rose societies across Tennessee, Arkansas and Kentucky. More than 50 of the most accomplished exhibiting rosarians in the Southeast will compete for awards in multiple categories – from hybrid teas, floribundas and miniatures to shrub roses and old garden roses – displaying hundreds of absolutely beautiful roses in a variety of colors and fragrances. There will be a category for best rose arrangements as well.

On each day of the show at 2 p.m., a Nashville Rose Society Consulting Rosarian will conduct a free workshop on the “Basics of Growing Roses,” designed to introduce rose care to the beginner or novice. Come and learn how to properly prepare your soil, when and how to prune, as well as proven techniques for fertilizing and protecting roses from damaging insects and diseases. Everyone attending the workshops will receive a complimentary packet of information and tips about growing beautiful roses in Tennessee. And after each workshop, free guided tours will be available of Belmont’s two spectacular rose gardens – the original Belmont Rose Garden, which now contains more than 200 roses of 70 different varieties, as well as the new Adelicia Acklen Rose Garden, which contains some of the same rose varieties Adelicia grew back in the 1860s when she lived in Belmont Mansion.

“The Nashville Rose Society is excited to hold our Annual Rose Show at Belmont University once again this year and invite the public to attend,” says Ron Daniels, Co-President of The Nashville Rose Society. “It’s an opportunity for us to share our passion for growing roses with our Middle Tennessee neighbors. Roses have a reputation for being ‘fussy’ and challenging to grow. I hope folks will come to the Show to be inspired and to learn that really anyone can grow beautiful roses.”

The Rose Show will be held in the Gabhart Student Center, Rooms A & B, on the campus of Belmont University, located at 2002 Belmont Blvd.  in Nashville.

Admission and parking are both free to the public from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sep. 26 and from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sep. 27. For a map of the campus, visit belmont.edu or nashvillerosesociety.org.
