Jones Orchard, one of Trolley Stop Market’s Tennessee-based suppliers, grows approximately 150 acres of fruits and vegetables, 110 acres of which are devoted to 25 peach varieties. Located north of Memphis in Millington, the orchard has been in the Jones family since 1940, when it was established by H. L. “Peaches” Jones. His grandson, Henry, and his wife, Dayna, now own Jones Orchard.

Today, the husband-and-wife team and their employees operate two roadside markets, three farmers market booths and a thriving jam and jelly business. During the fall season, the orchard draws visitors with a 10-acre corn maze, pumpkin patch, antique tractor rides and Halloween-themed attractions that are “more elaborate and terrifying every year.”

In addition, Jones’ Pick-Your-Own Orchard at Big Creek Road features strawberries, plums, blackberries, peaches, nectarines, pears and apples when ripe and available during the spring and summer months. The orchard also gives locals an opportunity to join its CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, offering the option of purchasing half a bushel of produce every week or every other week for a 28-week period beginning in April. CSA participants can expect to take home baskets filled with items like summer squash, cabbage, blueberries, sweet potatoes, cantaloupes, shelled peas and watermelons.

“I enjoy interacting with the customers and making them happy,” Henry Jones says. “Plus, it’s great to grow my own food and put my hands in the soil. For me, it’s a very rewarding line of work.”
