Poinsettias are popular business during the holidays at PWP Greenhouses in Pall Mall, TN.
Bob Washburn, owner of PWP Greenhouses, grows sixteen varieties of poinsettias, with a total of 12,000 colorful plants every year.
“They’re hard to grow,” Washburn says. “They need fertilizer and protection from light. We start them in June and grow them until November.”
The hard work pays off, though, with a vast assortment of poinsettia beauties, from Strawberries and Cream to White Glitter, Peppermint, Jingle Bells and Plum Pudding.
But Washburn says traditional red is still the most popular poinsettia.
PWP Greenhouses also supplies poinsettias for fundraising by 4-H clubs, schools, church groups, cheerleaders and other organizations. For more information, visit their website or call 1-800-841-5210.
Looking for a good fundraiser for our club during the holidays, I am considering a Poinsettia Fund Raiser. I talked with a young woman who did a fundraiser in Shellbyville with Mums and she said it went very well. I think we need very large poinsettias to make the most impact. Definitelly about what you get at Walmart or even some of our Florist shops. I would like to know if there is such plants avaiable and what the cost may be. I am hoping the more we order the cheaper they are!
Sincerely,
