Developed by a team from the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture along with other land-grant institutions, the Integrated Pest Management Lite (IPMLite) mobile application is designed to help make gardeners aware of pests as they develop over the season, as well as provide them with how-to information on insect and disease management, pruning and fertilization schedules, and more. The app even alerts users when destructive pests show up in their garden. (Related: Bug Off! Natural Ways to Prevent Insects in Your Garden)

Amy Fulcher, lead developer and University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture assistant professor in the Department of Plants and Sciences, says that IPMLite gives gardeners all the information they need condensed into an easy-to-read format. It features great images, understandable language and real time alerts so that gardeners and homeowners can stay on top of timely plant care.

The app is available for both iPhone and Android platforms for $9.99.
