Good Fortune Soap

One East Tennessee soap company is about more than clean hands. Good Fortune Soap, founded by Jennifer Jack, focuses on paying it forward and giving back to the local and global community.

While working full-time as a graphic designer, Jack taught herself how to make soap by studying the trade, natural ingredients and the natural products industry.

Since her first bar of soap sold in December 2006, Jack’s business has taken off. This certified soap maker worked side-by-side with her mother to renovate her grandfather’s dairy barn in Cleveland, Tennessee, to house her growing operation. Now, she makes hundreds of bars of soap a day in the same room her grandfather used to milk cows.

Her soaps, lotions, candles, lip and other bath and body products are available throughout Tennessee and in more than 20 other states. Jack was recently awarded Best in Show and Best Package Design at the Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild Conference in Burlington, Vermont.

Jack also started the non-profit Soap For Hope, which helps educate and empower at-risk women and girls to start their own businesses. She spent time in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake to teach girls how to make soap, which is for sale on the company’s website.
