Located off West Walnut Street in downtown Johnson City, One Acre Café provides nutritious food and a welcoming environment for all – including those who can’t afford a meal.

The idea for the restaurant began with a group of friends who decided they wanted to do something about the growing problem of hunger in the area. They learned about the success of community cafes sprouting up across the country based on the model developed by the One World Everybody Eats organization (OWEE). By providing the option to volunteer in lieu of payment, the OWEE model offered a dignified option to help fight hunger in the community.

Customers who are unable to pay are welcome to volunteer at the restaurant in exchange for a healthy meal, and those who can pay are asked to make a donation.

How do I get the actual magazine in addition to the email version

    • Jessy Yancey says:

      Hi Bill,
This magazine goes out to Farm Bureau members. Many folks have it through insurance, but you can also just become a member without the insurance to receive the magazine and other benefits. You’ll have to reach out to your local county Farm Bureau for that (find it here). Hope this helps!
