Aunt Lizzie’s Cheese Straws, based in Memphis, celebrates 35 years in 2018.
Established in 1983 by childhood friends Ann Randalls and Ginna Kelley, over the past 35 years the company has evolved into a brand with deep family ties and a knack for snacks.
Aunt Lizzie’s prides itself on a family recipe from Ann’s mother, Elizabeth, who was known as Aunt Lizzie by all of Ann’s friends. She passed the recipe down to Ann and Ginna when they decided to go into business together.
The cheese straws come in several varieties, including classic cheese, jalapeño cheese, gluten-free and low-carb options. They are made using an old-fashioned cookie press from Scandinavia that can no longer be purchased.
The company also sells delectable desserts, including a pecan cookie that comes from Ginna’s mother.
