Wrangler is celebrating local farms across the American South with its new Wrangler Rooted Collection. Made with cotton grown exclusively on American farms, the new limited line of locally sourced, 100% sustainable jeans and cotton T-Shirts features products produced and manufactured in the United States from start to finish. And as part of this new collection, Wrangler has chosen Tennessee as one of five states – along with Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas – to produce the homegrown cotton for the jeans and T-shirts.

Sustainability from Seed to Seam

The five farms participating in the collection make up the original growers in the Wrangler Science and Conservation Program, which promotes land stewardship through sustainable farming practices. Launched in 2017, Wrangler’s sustainable cotton program supports farmers who use soil-health practices like no-till farming, cover cropping and crop rotation. These methods, in turn, help to improve yields, reduce energy and water inputs, fight erosion, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. The company aims to source 100% of its cotton from farmers using these practices by 2025.

“The Wrangler Rooted Collection reflects our commitment to strengthening local communities and supporting U.S. farmers,” says Tom Waldron, President of Wrangler. “Equally important, the introduction of this collection aligns with our goal to continually improve the environmental performance and traceability of our products.”

The unique items in the collection also feature custom rivets, pocket details and patches that represent the work ethic and land stewardship of American cotton farmers. Within the individual state collections, the items showcase state pride through unique details and embellishments that connect each T-shirt and pair of jeans back to the states that produced its cotton.

The Tennessee Jean

Every pair of jeans in the Tennessee collection begins with cotton grown in West Tennessee soil. On the Pugh family farm in Halls, Tennessee, fifth-generation farmer Eugene Pugh grows cotton, corn and soybean crops using sustainable growing methods. He utilizes cover crops and conservation tillage to control erosion and build soil health, which improves with each passing season.

In addition to sustainable Tennessee cotton, the jeans feature a unique wash, trim and patch details with the state’s silhouette, and other custom embellishments. The collection also includes two cotton T-shirts with Tennessee-themed designs.

  13. Andy Holt says:

I’ve worn Wranglers as long as I can remember, but like many products, I’m left wondering where the sourced materials for the product originated. In Tennessee you can now buy milk sourced from Tennessee, and now we can add to that growing list, none other than, Wrangler blue jeans! As a West Tennessean, I find it all the more wonderful that the cotton is sourced from my part of the State. I love to see American brands using American materials & promoting American Agriculture! Thank you, @Wrangler & @TNHomeAndFarm.

  14. Jen Stewart says:

  16. Teresa Keen says:

I stopped buying Levi jeans for both my husband and me several years ago (early 90s) when a top exec from Levis made an ugly and condescending “politically correct” statement in a large meeting at Opryland Hotel that I attended in association with my work. I sent in a letter to Levis headquarters to let them know I would never again purchase Levis. So Wrangler has been mostly our choice. Needless to say, I was gravely disappointed when Wrangler production left the US and went to Mexico. I don’t understand or like that choice. But having Wranglers made from TN cotton eases the blow just a little…

  17. Jim Wells says:

Always wear Wrangler jeans. They always seem to fit.

  18. Jay Bush says:

    Thanks!

  19. Glenda Barron says:

Would be nice to win a new pair of jeans.

  20. Tim says:

Is it true that all of the Tennessee cotton sourced for this line of denim come from a single family farm? That will give that family something to be proud of for generations. I grew up in Texas where cotton is a major crop, and I remember going down thew rural highways in the late summer and seeing the fully bloomed cotton fields looking like a blizzard had just blanketed the area. It is a site of beauty.

I would love a pair of jeans that I can feel good about wearing because they are helping out Tennessee locals rather than a big name clothing company like Hollister or American Eagle, that I do not support a lot of their other values. Good jeans are hard to find and hard to pay for full price.
