From cooking to carving, pumpkins are everywhere this time of year. Americans love them so much that in 2017, pumpkin-flavored product sales in the U.S. totaled over $414 million. That’s a lot of pumpkin spice! However, carving jack-o’- lanterns for Halloween isn’t originally American. The custom traces its roots back to Ireland hundreds of years ago, except they used turnips or potatoes.
